One of my favorite verses in scripture is Proverbs 21:2. “All a man’s ways seem right to him, but the LORD weighs the heart.” I sincerely believe you can measure a person’s heart by what they are willing to sacrifice for their beliefs.
I’ve always tried to convey that, as long as there’s a God in heaven, there’s hope. Looking back on the successes and failures in my own personal life, I believe it’s only natural to wonder. “When all is said and done, what will my life have meant to the loved ones I leave behind?”
One way to measure the impact of someone’s life is to see what kind of ‘footprint’ he or she leaves behind. A footprint is a measurable, weighable impression, which will hopefully remain long after we are gone.
History has proven you do not have to be wealthy, popular or highly educated to leave a significant footprint behind, good or bad! The Bible describes the apostles as ‘uneducated and untrained’ men (Acts 4:13), but they left behind a tremendous footprint!
When I look into the eyes of children and families desperate for relief, desperate for the hope that can only be found in Christ, I can understand what Jesus meant when He said, “I tell you the truth, anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name because you belong to Christ, will certainly not lose his reward” (Mark 9:41).
Since 1999, I have tried to offer a “cup of cold water in the name of Christ” for all my clients. I have been blessed to witness addicts cleansed, marriages restored, emotions healed, and children returned to normal, productive lives, now numbering in the thousands!
When all is said and done, what will be the footprint that you leave behind?
